Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what information Washoe County Released Inmates receives, how it is used, and when another party may process it. It covers searches sent through partner tools, messages sent directly to us, technical data created during a visit, and cookies. By continuing to use the site, you accept the practices described here.

Information You Submit

Queries Entered in Search Tools

A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the independent provider that operates that tool. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems. The provider’s privacy policy and terms govern its handling of the query and any later signup.

Messages Sent to Us

If you email us or submit a contact message, we retain the information needed to read the request, respond, and maintain an appropriate record of the exchange. We do not disclose that message outside our organization unless a legal duty, valid order, or other lawful requirement compels disclosure.

Technical Data Created During a Visit

Like most websites, our systems may receive routine connection and usage details when a page loads:

  • The internet protocol address used for the request
  • The browser name and version
  • The device class and operating system
  • The pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when supplied
  • The date and time of the request

Cookies and Browser Controls

Cookies and similar technologies help measure how visitors move through the Washoe County pages and support site functions. A browser can reject or delete cookies through its settings. Some features may work differently or lose saved preferences when cookies are blocked.

How Information Supports the Site

We use the information described in this notice for limited operating purposes:

  • Keep pages available, responsive, and reliable
  • Send a search request to the partner tool selected by the visitor
  • Understand which Washoe County topics and pages are useful
  • Detect errors, abuse, performance problems, and other technical faults
  • Display advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests

Government and Third-Party Links

The site links to WCSO and NDOC records, Nevada S.A.V.E., court portals, federal locators, and independent search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination’s own privacy terms govern its collection and use. We do not control those external systems.

Advertising providers may use technology on their own networks to understand activity across more than one website and serve interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs within the provider’s systems rather than as a Washoe County release record kept by this site.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Depending on how a visitor uses the site, limited data may be processed by:

  • Search partners that receive and answer a submitted query
  • Analytics services that measure visits and page performance
  • Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order

Security Is a Shared Risk

We use ordinary administrative and technical safeguards suited to a public reference website. No internet transmission, browser, server, or storage system can be guaranteed secure in every circumstance. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.

This Site Is for Adults

Washoe County Released Inmates is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent information directly to us, use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.

Privacy Choices and Requests

Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, a person may ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of personal information we hold about that person
  • Correct personal information that is inaccurate
  • Erase personal information that need not be retained
  • Stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out right applies

These requests concern information controlled by this site. A request about a WCSO, NDOC, court, or other public record belongs with that government custodian. Nevada public-record access is governed by NRS Chapter 239, but that statute does not make this private site the custodian of an agency record.

Changes to This Privacy Notice

We may revise this notice as site practices, service providers, or legal requirements change. The updated text will appear on this page with a revised effective date, and continued use after publication will be subject to the new notice.
