About Jan Evans Center
Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center and Wittenberg Hall form a county juvenile detention and services complex operated by Washoe County Juvenile Services. The center is not the Washoe County Detention Facility, which serves adults. It is also not an NDOC prison. Those differences control which records exist, who may receive them, and how release is described.
Juvenile cases focus on court-directed care, supervision, placement, and legal process. Adult terms such as county-jail roster, parole from state prison, or public booking history can distort that process. Use the exact language in the juvenile court order. “Home supervision,” for example, means the young person is outside detention under stated conditions, not that the whole case has ended.
