Where NNTH Releases Go

Northern Nevada Transitional Housing houses NDOC offenders who are approaching term expiration or parole eligibility. Residents can take part in community programming, but the facility remains a state custody setting. An offender-search result that names NNTH therefore describes continued NDOC custody, not release from the Washoe County jail and not freedom in the community.

Actual departure usually follows one of two broad paths. A status change to parole means institutional confinement ended while Nevada Division of Parole and Probation supervision began. A discharge or release entry can document the end of the state custody obligation described by NDOC. A transfer to another NDOC site is still custody. Read the location, status, sentence rows, and historical release data together.

Confirm an NNTH Release

The NDOC Offender Search is the first public route. It searches by offender ID or name and may show identity, NDOC number, status or location, sentence details, and labeled date fields. It is statewide. The WCSO adult jail search does not cover an NNTH resident.

1. Search by NDOC ID when known, or use the full name and compare identifiers.
2. Read the current location and status before interpreting any date.
3. Copy the exact PED, PEXD, release, or discharge labels rather than paraphrasing them.
4. Check the release-history row or downloadable state release table for a completed event.
5. Use Nevada S.A.V.E. to check participating-agency custody or supervision and request alerts.
6. Request the underlying NDOC record when online sections are blank or ambiguous.

PED means parole eligibility date. It marks when parole consideration may become possible, not when someone leaves. PEXD is a projected expiration estimate that can change. An actual release date records a completed custody event. These three dates can diverge because of credits, court changes, detainers, disciplinary events, consecutive sentences, and Board action.

NNTH Records and Contact

Use the current NDOC facility page for the address and main phone. For a release history, Offender Management is the better records route. A Chapter 239 public-record request goes to the NDOC Public Information Office. Provide the NDOC number and a narrow date range.

Ask for release history, release date and description, discharge status, and a nonconfidential time-computation record when relevant. NDOC lists public inspection Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Its researched fee schedule lists paper copies at $0.15 per page, removable media at actual cost, and an audio or video disc at $5, subject to law and an estimate.

About Northern Nevada Transitional Housing

NDOC’s current NNTH page identifies the Reno facility and reports a capacity of 112. Its role is transitional. People there may be near parole eligibility or sentence expiration, yet they remain state offenders. The facility should never be described as a county jail, halfway house outside corrections control, or proof that a person has already been released.

Nearby state prisons should not be mislabeled as Washoe County facilities. Northern Nevada Correctional Center and Stewart Conservation Camp are in Carson City. Lovelock Correctional Center is in Pershing County. A person convicted in Washoe County may be placed at any NDOC location, so the statewide offender record controls.

Why Old NNTH Listings Persist

NNTH succeeds the former Northern Nevada Restitution Center. Older official search results can still surface that predecessor at a different East Second Street address and with older capacity information. The current Sunshine Lane facility page must control present contact and location details.

NDOC’s facility history describes a transition tied to land involving the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony. That history explains why old names and addresses remain indexed, but it does not create two current Reno facilities. Verify the page date and agency header before using a listing. Contact current NNTH staff when an address affects a visit, record request, or release plan.

NNTH Parole Is Not Automatic

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners decides parole. NDOC calculates eligibility and holds the person before release. P&P investigates the proposed plan and supervises the person afterward. The Board notes that hearings often occur before eligibility so the plan can be reviewed. A grant still does not equal gate release.

Use the evidence sequence in order: NDOC eligibility information, Board schedule, Board action, effective or eligibility date, plan approval, actual NDOC release transaction, and P&P supervision. If parole was granted but release is pending, the Board Pre-Release number is 775-687-5040. The Reno P&P number is 775-684-2300.

No authoritative public statewide P&P absconder list was found. A violation agenda is not a full warrant database. Direct a named supervision or warrant question to P&P or its Reno and Carson dispatch at 775-687-0400.

NNTH Release Alerts Through SAVE

Nevada S.A.V.E. is the current statewide custody and supervision notification service. Nevada ended VINE search and notices in August 2025. Search the correct person, review the source agency, and register for the channels offered. A parolee may remain visible because supervision continues. Someone fully outside custody and supervision may not appear.

S.A.V.E. is periodic notification data, not a certified release record. Use it to watch for changes, then confirm a critical event with NDOC or P&P. Registration can follow participating-agency transfers, which is useful when a resident moves from NNTH to another institution before eventual release.

Read NNTH Release Dates Carefully

Projected expiration can move as credits post, fail to post, or are forfeited. NDOC’s estimate can also change because of court amendments, new cases, holds, sentence corrections, or Board action. The agency’s sentence memorandum warns that an estimate may not settle until close to actual release. Do not create a personal release calculation from the statute alone.

For a named result, copy each date exactly and ask NDOC Sentence Management or Offender Management when its meaning is unclear. Request an NNTH Release Record

When the public profile lacks a release row or clear description, write to NDOC Offender Management. Give the full name, NDOC number, date range, and the exact record sought. Useful terms include release history, date and description, discharge status, and nonconfidential time-computation sheet. Avoid asking NNTH or WCSO for a county booking record when the event belongs to NDOC.

A Chapter 239 request can go to the NDOC Public Information Office. Nevada law requires a response by the end of the fifth business day, but the response may be an estimated availability date, a denial with legal authority, or notice that the office lacks the record. Availability and redaction depend on the requested material.

Resolve Conflicting NNTH Status

A search result, Board action, and S.A.V.E. alert can update at different times. Preserve the status text and timestamp from each source. A parole grant comes before physical release, and an alert is not the completed NDOC record. Call the responsible agency when the sequence seems inconsistent.

Use the NDOC number across the offender profile, Board report, release history, and request. Names alone can produce mistaken matches. If P&P supervision begins, record that agency’s confirmation separately from the institutional release.

A blank photo, missing sentence field, or stale location does not establish discharge. Public profiles can omit data. Ask NDOC to identify the current record and explain the field rather than filling the gap with a projected date. For time-sensitive parole questions, compare the Board action with Pre-Release and P&P information before treating the transition as complete.

Keep the current NNTH address separate from historical facility material. Old contact details can misroute a records request and delay confirmation of a current state-custody event. Save the source date with any downloaded record for a clear audit trail.
